New Lenox Open

The New Lenox Open was started in 1985 by Gary Lewis and played at Haines Wayside Park in New Lenox, Illinois, this event was retired in its 19th year in 2004. Haines was a go to course back in the day but as players became more skilled and could throw farther bigger courses were in demand. Haines became known as the flooded, overgrown course on a dead end street and was neglected for years.

In 2022 Dana Vicich reached out to Sean Callahan and the two of them redesigned the course, with the help of the park district they opened up new lines and cleared overgrown fairways. Dellwood Disc Golf donated 18 new Mach V baskets and the park district installed 18 new concrete tee pads. Haines is a unique layout as there are 9 holes but each hole has two baskets and two tee pads for a total of 36 different options. Check out the layouts on UDISC.

With the blessing of Gary Lewis we decided to resurrect the New Lenox Open in 2023, this will become a part of the Greater Joliet Tour Season.
