Fraction Run cup 5

We call the Fraction Run Cup our home opener, this is our first PDGA sanctioned C-Tier of the Greater Joliet Tour Season and it’s held right at The Canyons at Dellwood Park. Fraction Run Cup is named after the creek that runs through Dellwood and the event is always held in the spring, this means that the creek can be really flowing from spring rain or snow and ice melt. This year the creek was rather tame, however, we had a storm push through the night before with wind gusts up to 90 mph. We knew we might be walking into some damage but did not expect to see giant elder trees simply blown over and branches laying on the ground throughout the west side of the course. Half our crew used chainsaws to cut up what was dangerous and in the way while the other half set up tournament central and got tee times rolling. Saturday was windy and cold and sleet rained from the sky at times but everyone stayed positive. Sunday was much warmer with bright sun and better scores. There were many stories from the weekend from hot rounds and aces to swoops and playoffs. Take a look at some highlights below.

Lauren Lakeberg, The Disc Golf Photographer, was out both days capturing our tournament. Lauren goes out of her way to capture and document our area’s events. Fraction Run Cup 5 is dedicated to our friend, Jason Oxsen of 208 Discs in Boise, Idaho. As we were recapping the event this morning we received the news that Jason passed away over the weekend. Jason was a shop owner, tournament director, and advocate for disc golf in Idaho. Sean and Jason would regularly talk shop and trade stories about owning a disc golf business. Jason was a pillar in his community and will be greatly missed.
